A Tree-Mendous Task 488949028 1404655447156831 956881606218267098 N

A Tree-Mendous Task

Our team recently had the privilege (& challenge) of carefully strapping and wrapping the branches of some of our largest Japanese Maples and Black Pines for packing and shipping to a garden in Tennessee. It took days of cautious tying and stabilizing before the trees were deemed ready for the long trip in the trailers of two semi trucks.

To make the most of the shipping opportunity, the buyer added a number of large shrubs to the load of trees at the last minute. While this made the loading process more challenging, it helped to provide stability to the root balls and branches of the large trees as they lay horizontally on the beds of the trailers. It was a tight fit, but thanks to the watchful, thoughtful care of the Hanselman team, the trees arrived safely at their new home, where they have been planted and will now provide beauty, color and shade for an outdoor seating area.

What challenges are you facing on your current property? While your situation may not require a tractor trailer delivery, we are experienced at dealing with challenges, and take great pride in doing things right so that they don’t have to be re-done. Give us a call if you’d like our help with a challenging project: 717-653-1273. You’ll be surprised what our creative minds and strong wills can accomplish!

Happy Earth Day!

“For the beauty of the earth,
For the glory of the skies,
For the love which from our birth
Over and around us lies.
Lord of all, to Thee we raise
This our hymn of grateful praise!”

~ Folliet Pierpoint (British poet, hymnologist, schoolmaster; 1835 – 1917)

Spring

“April is a time of wonder, when the spring peepers emerge from hibernation and begin to call, when robins and redwing blackbirds come back north, and when new green life appears. That is one of the greatest of all wonders, the growth of a bud and a leaf from a seed or a root that has lain dormant in the earth all winter.”

~Hal Borland (American writer and naturalist; 1900–1978)

Gardens For Children 487854533 1400708267551549 6014193862637134056 N

Gardens for Children

James’ first official “children’s garden” was commissioned by a church preschool director who desired a natural play space for the little ones in her care, where rocks and trees replaced plastic and metal as the structural elements. Since then, he has had the privilege of designing many garden spaces with children in mind. Now that we are grandparents, we are delighted to see the creativity with which grandchildren and friends alike enjoy the garden spaces James has incorporated around our home.

The Joy of Flowers!

“People from a planet without flowers would think we must be mad with joy the whole time to have such things about us.”

~ Iris Murdoch (Irish and British novelist and philosopher; 1919 – 1999)

Can we bring the joy of flowers to your garden in the form of bulbs and flowering trees and shrubs? We’d be delighted to enrich your lives in this exquisite way, now and in the years to come.
